All the staff is encouraged to further their education through either a CDA program or to acquire their associated degree in early education.
What is you discipline philosophy?
Our discipline practices are according to Dr Becky Bailey’s philosophy, which is called Conscious Discipline practices, the 7 basic skills for Brain Smart Classroom Management, which is based on teaching through Love and understanding of human behavior and brain development. The goal is teaching children self control by conflict solving techniques through communication skills.
We do not use “time out” instead we have established a “Safe Place” in each classroom that children use when they are in distress. The teacher’s approach is not of punishment but of self control and keeping the classroom safe. Teachers develop a “School Family” that gives the children a sense of unity, acceptance and safety. Do you offer outdoor time?
We offer outdoor play in the morning and in the afternoon. We have 3 big playgrounds that have climbing, swinging and riding equipment. Our playgrounds are shaded by our hug oak trees. We play sports. Even our older infants enjoy outside play either in the playground or by a wagon ride.
